Description

We are seeking an experienced Principal to support an anticipated federal program onsite at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The selected candidate will provide strategic leadership across accounting, audit, financial management, and compliance functions supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs.


This role will oversee financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, lead audit readiness initiatives, and provide financial guidance to senior leadership. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in federal financial management, risk management, and government accounting while supporting mission-critical programs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for accounting, audit, and financial management operations.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD financial regulations, FAR, and GAAP.
  • Lead audit readiness initiatives and coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Develop and implement internal controls and risk management processes.
  • Advise senior leadership on financial risks and funding strategies.
  • Analyze budgets, cost estimates, and financial performance.
  • Support financial compliance and fiscal accountability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve program objectives.
  • Recommend process improvements to strengthen financial operations. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in accounting, audit, or financial management.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of DoD financial management regulations.
  • Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience leading audit readiness and audit remediation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and enterprise risk management.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as GFEBS or DEAMS.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred (or required, según la política de la empresa).
